Common Art Hero's Journey Presentation

Due to my misunderstanding, I ended up doing an extra image. But my team did a pretty good job all coming together to make a good presentation.

Use of Perspective

When creating things like this, I like to try and mesh two types of themes that don't normally go together, For ths one it was boats and rockets. Unfortunately, this sometimes doesn't work out the wa I want it to. Given more time, I would have put many smaller pieces onto the boat and adjusted tetures a bit, but given the time we had I think this went fairly well.

Common Art HW: Composition

For this assignment, I decided not to use any 2D programs and just create it using Blender. The procedural workflow and shader edditor is much easier to use than drawing something like this by hand. I actually enjoyed getting to mess around in blender to make an interesting image again and this was a decent exercise. I got inspiration to make a styalized space scene from the artist Mobius

Week 4 Basic use of lighting

This homework was very tedious, the reflections were of course particularly hard to do correctly but most of the shapes were less work than I thought once I got used to the workflow. I first tried to utilize the same techniques we practiced last week and generate the linework automatically, but there was too much lighting and color information for Photoshop to accurately draw the lines, so I had to do it by hand unfortunately.

Homework 03 Value and Contrast

This was an actually interesting assignment. The way we used the same method several times and used non destructive methods of adding value was satisfying to do. I'm especially happy with the lack of drawing and linework that I needed to do.

Week 2 Use of Silhouettes

Even though these designs are very simple, it took me quite a while to finish them. 2D art continues to frustrate me on how long it takes me for such little design work.

Use of Basic Shapes

I have rarely used photoshop for drawing purposes, so my lack of experience using this software for character design didn't help my already pitiful drawing skills. This assignment was a struggle for me because I couldn't help comparing my terrible attempts, to the fantastic beasts that were being shared around for critique. I would feel much more comfortable and do a much better job by doing chacter concepts in a 3D program. I do not enjoy doing traditional drawing, and have no idea where to even start trying to correctly shade and do propper line work.
